Ruidoso Art Galleries
New Mexico has long been known as a haven for the arts and Ruidoso
and Lincoln County are no exception. The art community in and around
Ruidoso is an active and growing one that add a unique flavor to our
mountains. The creative artists and craftspeople in the area work in
every type of media and style. The local galleries feature works by
local, state, and national artists.
The Hurd-La Rinconada Gallery continues the tradition of one of the
nation’s best-know art families. Through four generations starting
with the famed illustrator N.C, Wyeth and continuing with his son
Andrew Wyeth, his daughter Henrietta Wyeth, her husband Peter Hurd,
and their son Michael Hurd they have produced some of America’s
finest works of art. Ruidoso resident Gordon Snidow follows in the
tradition of fine western art and is internationally known. Studio W
and the Abode are fine galleries that feature the work of local
artists. McGary Studios/Expressions In Bronze Gallery features Dave
McGary’s bronze sculptures of Native Americans. His sculpture at
Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Museum “Free Spirits at Noisy Water” is
one of the finest equine sculptures in the world. The Classic Bronze
Foundry and Gallery offer the opportunity to view the process of
bronze sculpture creation.
Ruidoso features gallery tours, art walks, and arts in the parks. A
number of local artists offer tours of their studios several times a
year with the “Art Loop” and the “Art in Public Places”, showing the
work of local artists throughout the community. The outdoor art
exhibits and shows in the community center feature artists and
craftspeople from around the area and state.
