Ruidoso Vacation Rentals Travel Info & Directions
Ruidoso, New Mexico is located in the
south-central part of the state about halfway between Albuquerque
and El Paso. Most visitors to Ruidoso arrive by road. The town is
not near any major interstate highway, but has excellent state
highway access from the North, East and West. Ruidoso is a “driver’s
market” as you will need a car to get from your Ruidoso Vacation
Rentals to any activities that you may want to pursue in the area.
The local Sierra Blanca Regional Airport is now only open to private
aircraft. If you fly, check the fares to both Albuquerque (180
miles) and El Paso (130 miles) as the difference in drive time from
either airport is minimal.
DIRECTIONS FROM ALBUQUERQUE AND POINTS NORTH
Take
I-25 south to Hwy. 380 in San Antonio (about 10 miles south of
Socorro). Drive east on Hwy. 380 to Carrizozo and continue east
about 10 miles to Hwy. 37 Signs will be
marked towards Nogal and Ruidoso. Hwy. 37 will come to a “T”
intersection with Hwy. 48. Turn right on Hwy. 48 and drive through
Alto to Ruidoso. Condotel’s office is located on this road, locally
known as Mechem Drive. Look for the “Condotel” sign on the building
on the right at 1103 Mechem about a ¼ mile after the first stop
light and just before Pioneer Bank. The center of Ruidoso is about
another 2 miles further on Mechem.
DIRECTIONS FROM EL PASO AND POINTS WEST
Leave
El Paso on Hwy. 54 north through Oro Grande to Alamogordo. There is
a bypass around Alamogordo that saves a few minutes unless you want
to go through the town for gas or a snack. Follow signs for Hwy. 54
north and Hwy. 70 east to Tularosa. In Tularosa bear right on Hwy.
70 east through Mescalero to Ruidoso. At the first stop light turn
left onto Sudderth Drive – this is the main road through the
business district of Ruidoso. After about 2 ½ miles you will come to
a stop light with an Allsups store on your right and Santino’s
Restaurant on you left. Turn right onto Hwy. 48 locally known as
Mechem Drive. The Condotel office is about 2 miles north on the left
just after Pioneer Bank at 1103 Mechem.
DIRECTIONS FROM ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO AND POINTS EAST
Leave
Roswell westbound on Hwy. 70. Drive for just over an hour before
coming into Ruidoso Downs. About a mile after the racetrack you will
come to a stoplight at the “Y”, where you need to bear right into
Ruidoso on Sudderth Drive. After about 2 ½ miles you will come to a
stop light with an Allsups store on your right and Santino’s
Restaurant on you left. Turn right onto Hwy. 48 locally known as
Mechem Drive. The Condotel office is about 2 miles north on the left
just after Pioneer Bank at 1103 Mechem.
