Description for Rail Road House
Design aficionados, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to surround themselves with privacy and serenity will love Rail Road House. A modernist masterpiece, the two-bedroom home was designed to take full advantage of its surroundings. Just about everywhere you look, whether you’re indoors or out, you’ll gaze upon magnificent mountains, vast expanses of brush, and infinite skies. Yet despite its secluded setting, Rail Road House is steps away from the Santa Fe Rail Yard area and a walk or short drive from the Madrid artists’ community and a half-hour from downtown Santa Fe.
Rail Road House is for anyone with a love of wide-open spaces and modern design, the house is a dream come true. The living room, dining area, and extra large kitchen flow seamlessly into one another. Thanks to the large windows, it almost seems as if you’re outdoors among the dramatic landscape even as you sit in an armchair or the dining table.
The furnishings fit into Rail Road House simple, streamlined aesthetic while remaining inviting and comfortable. Whether you’re stretched out on the living room sofa watching a movie on the HDTV with cable or enjoying drinks by the fireplace, you’ll feel wonderfully at home.
The dining area features a table that easily seats six people, but it’s not Rail Road House only dining space as breakfast bar is available for casual meals. Linger over breakfast out here as hummingbirds sing and the mountain breezes rustle through the grasses; nurse a nightcap while marveling at the star-studded sky—and because the home is far from the city lights, you’ll likely see more stars than you imagined. Another spot for enjoying drinks and snacks is the covered patio.
Whether you like to cook or not, you’ll appreciate Rail Road House extra large, well-equipped kitchen. Along with a full complement of appliances, cookware, and tableware, it offers a wealth of counter space and room for multiple chefs. There’s also a handy breakfast bar for those who prefer chatting with the cook to preparing a meal.
Both of Rail Road House bedrooms are comfy and cozy, making the house well suited for two couples. As you drift off to sleep you might hear owls and coyotes (they’re nicknamed Song Dogs for a reason).
When you arrive at Rail Road House you’ll find the beds impeccably made up and plenty of clean towels for use in the beautifully tiled bathroom. In addition, the home has a full-size washer and dryer, so you can pack light.
Rail Road House seemingly remote setting makes it ideal for anyone who needs a respite from noise and hubbub. Yet it’s not far from the many local attractions. Santa Fe Plaza, the heart of downtown, with its markets, restaurants, and historic Palace of the Governors, is only a half-hour drive, as are the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and the galleries of Canyon Road. The Railyard, a gathering spot chockablock with restaurants, shops, and more, is also only a half-hour away. Madrid, a former ghost town that is now a charming artists’ community, is just a 15-minute drive, and the hiking trails, wildflowers, and wildlife of Cerrillos Hills State Park are even closer.
A magical place for a magical getaway: That is Rail Road House in a nutshell. Make your dream of a one-of-a-kind vacation a reality and book your stay today.
