Description for Sun Mountain View
Neither smack-dab amid the hectic tourist areas nor far from the many must-see attractions and the mountains, Sun Mountain View is just right for your Santa Fe getaway. As the home’s name indicates, from the adobe-walled property you’ll have a splendid view of Sun Mountain, with its trailhead just over a mile away. When you’re not hiking, mountain biking or exploring, you and your guests can relax amid the Southwestern graciousness.

Featuring wood-burning kiva fireplaces, a viga-beamed ceiling and traditional furnishings, Sun Mountain View lets you luxuriate in the New Mexico vibe without stepping foot outside. The living/dining area is one large open space where everyone can gather without feeling crowded. Whether you’re sprawled out on the sofa watching a movie on the HDTV with satellite channels or playing cards at the handsome round table, you’ll feel right at home. If you want to enjoy some quiet time, head to the spacious office area, which has its own fireplace. There’s a desk where you can catch up on work, though you may find yourself distracted by the lush view on the other side of the windows.

The dining table seats six people with room to spare—you won’t be jostling elbows and knocking knees here. There’s a breakfast bar as well, which seats three. On the other side of the bar is the kitchen. Along with a full complement of appliances, cookware and tableware, the kitchen offers a wealth of counter space and storage. Head to Kaune’s, a Santa Fe institution just down the road, for all your groceries, and get set to prepare those gourmet meals you never have time for at home. If your idea of a vacation means no cooking at all, that’s fine too; scores of restaurants are mere minutes away.

Sun Mountain View’s two bedrooms all but guarantee R&R. The primary features a king-size bed, while the second includes a queen. Both offer ample storage, though since the house has a washer and dryer, you can pack light. The second bedroom includes both a window seat and an armchair where you can nestle with a good book. If you run out of reading material, you’ll find plenty to choose from among the home’s expansive bookshelves. Plus, two more guests can sleep in the living area, as the sofa opens into a second queen-size bed. And because Sun Mountain View is pet-friendly, you can bring along a couple of four-legged guests as well.

When you arrive at Sun Mountain View, you’ll find the beds beautifully made up, extra bedding and plenty of clean towels for both the full bathroom and the convenient half-bath. You’ll also find plenty of seating on the covered porch; everyone will be able sit outside where you can listen to hummingbirds chirp throughout the day and admire the star-studded sky at night. There’s a large picnic table and benches for alfresco dining, and, perhaps best of all, a hammock. Few things are more relaxing that swinging outdoors amid mountain-fresh breezes.

Then again, you might not have much time for swaying in the hammock; there’s so much to see and do. You can walk to Museum Hill, site of the Museum of International Folk Art, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and other museums, in less than 15 minutes. Historic Santa Fe Plaza, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and Loretto Chapel are less than 10 minutes away by car. Atalaya Mountain and the Randall Davey Audubon Center are nearly as close, and Ski Santa Fe is just 35 minutes away.

Offering convenience, comfort, quiet and plenty of charm, Sun Mountain View has it all. Don’t miss out; book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it!

Reviews for Sun Mountain View
Lovely Month's Stay
This is a charming house with lots of character and positive energy. It is also a bibliophile’s dream with a great library. The house is spacious, with a well appointed kitchen, large windows to soak up the beauty of surrounding nature and amazing sunsets, a lovely patio for relaxing and bird watching, and spotting a deer or two on a lucky day. It is situated in a secluded spot surrounded by a large private and gorgeous Santa Fe landscape and yet it is also very conveniently located within walking distance to the Museum Hill, Botanical Gardens, Canyon Road and Downtown. Amazing hiking trails are also nearby.  I had a lovely month’s stay in this house and I know I will be back.

Lucky to be There
My wife and I had an enchanted stay there during a semester enrolled at St. John’s College.  Authentic Santa Fe inside and out, the house was charming and spacious.  Secluded, with a sizable yard, and mountain views, it was also calming and serene.  (We did not hear traffic or our neighbors.)  A great convenience was being able to walk to the museums of Museum Hill, St. John’s College, Canyon Road, downtown Santa Fe, and various hiking trails in the vicinity.  We felt lucky to be there.
