When you stay at Starry Night, you’ll experience the full glory of nature firsthand. Pine-scented mountain breezes will waft through the windows of the one-bedroom cabin, as will the trilling of hummingbirds during the day and the hooting of owls at night. While you enjoy your morning coffee on the porch, you’re likely to see deer scamper by; herds of elk can often be found crossing the roads of the two-acre Apache Village enclave in which Starry Night is located.

Built in the late 1940s by an experienced carpenter, Starry Night is one of 35 cabins that make up Apache Village. Though it retains its down-home charm, with knotty-pine walls and doors and a covered porch, the cabin has plenty of modern features as well. For instance, the living area includes a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with cable and two roomy armchairs in which you can enjoy your favorite shows. When you return from hitting the slopes of nearby Ski Apache on a chilly winter’s evening, you’ll appreciate the convenience of the gas fireplace in its river-stone surround.

Starry Night also has a well-equipped kitchenette. Along with a mini fridge/freezer, oven/stove, microwave, and coffeemaker you’ll find cookware and tableware so that you can rustle up eggs in the morning and just about anything else at night. What’s more, there’s a gas grill right outside. If you reel in fish from the nearby lakes, you can barbecue them. You can dine alfresco too; the patio is furnished with a bistro table and chairs. Of course, there’s an equally charming table for two indoors by a window, where you can enjoy dinner with a view.

And if you prefer not to cook at all, you’ll find numerous restaurants nearby. You can even walk to many of them, as well as to shops, galleries and bars. Despite its bucolic setting, Starry Night is close to everything Ruidoso has to offer. Grindstone Lake and Trail System is only five minutes away; here you can fish, boat, hike, ride mountain bikes, ride horses and play disc golf. Equally close is Grindstone Stables, where you can enjoy an hour-long guided tour on horseback. In just 10 minutes you can drive to Alto Lake and Recreation Area. When you’re not fishing in the trout-stocked lake, explore the surrounding trails on foot, mountain bike or horseback (at the end of the Eagle Creek Trail you’ll find a waterfall!). In 15 minutes or less you can drive to the Hubbard Museum of the American West, the Inn of the Mountain Gods and Billy the Kid casinos and Ruidoso Downs, as well as several golf courses.

To enjoy all of these attractions, you’ll need to be well rested. Fortunately, Starry Night’s bedroom includes a queen-size bed you’ll relish sprawling out on. The bed will be perfectly made up before you arrive, so you can begin your vacation with a nap before you even unpack. You’ll find plenty of clean towels ready and waiting too—no need to load up your suitcase with linens from home.

Charming, inviting and in a blissful location, Starry Night is a special cabin for a special getaway. It has only one drawback: Once you’re here, you may never want to leave! Experience its pleasures for yourself and book your stay today.

Please remember that Ruidoso is a mountain town with snow and icy conditions during the winter. This can affect driving and parking conditions regardless of the property, driveway, or roads. 4x4 or chains may be required during winter months to access your home.

Nice little cabin. The area was quiet. The cabin was clean. The only thing I noticed is the ac is hard to use with the curtains hanging over it. We bought binder clips and moved the curtain out of the way.
