At Destiny Cabin you’ll enjoy all the joys of mountain living along with plenty of modern conveniences and comforts. The two-bedroom cabin, which sleeps seven, sits among soaring Ponderosa pines that perfume the air with their fresh scent. Deer scamper about, hummingbirds flitter and chirp and you might even see elk crossing one of the paths that crisscross Apache Village, the two-acre enclave that Destiny Cabin is part of. At the same time, you can walk to restaurants, shops, bars and galleries with ease.
Destiny Cabin itself is a charming mix of the old and the new. It’s one of 35 cabins that make up Ruidoso’s Apache Village neighborhood. All were built in the late 1940s by an experienced carpenter of handsome knotty pine, and each boasts distinctive handcrafted features. The cabin has been modernized in the decades since, with air-conditioning as well as updated kitchen appliances and bathroom fittings. There’s even a flat-screen TV with cable in the living room. It hangs above the wood-burning fireplace, which will warm up the room in a jiffy while bathing it in an inviting golden glow.
Along with a comfortable sofa, Destiny Cabin’s living area includes a dining table and kitchenette. Though compact, the kitchen area features a full-size refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, microwave and coffeemaker, along with tableware and cookware. Then again, you might want to eat all your meals out, given how many restaurants are within walking distance—Can’t Stop Smokin’, Casa Blanca, Khrome Grill and the Cork and Kettle, to name just a few.
Destiny Cabin’s primary bedroom boasts a queen-size bed. The corrugated-metal headboard, built-in side table and bedside sconces accentuate the room’s rustic charm. With a pair of double beds, the second room can sleep as many as four people. The kids will love it here: Every night will be a slumber party. An additional guest can make themselves at home in the living area, since the sofa converts to a twin bed. When you arrive, you’ll find the beds perfectly made up, plenty of clean towels in the bathroom and extra bedding ready and waiting. If you need a nap or a shower after your travels, you can take one right away, before you even unpack.
The cabin’s front porch is sure to be a favorite place to start your morning with a cup of coffee or to end your evening in the silvery moonlight. There are two chairs, and the porch roof will provide welcome shade during the midday summer heat. So will the numerous trees surrounding the cabin and giving Apache Village its sense of serenity and privacy.
Just beyond Apache Village there are Ruidoso’s numerous attractions to discover. Grindstone Lake and Trail System is only five minutes away; here you can fish, boat, hike, mountain bike, ride horses and play disc golf. Equally close is Grindstone Stables, where you can enjoy an hour-long guided tour on horseback. In just 10 minutes you can drive to Alto Lake and Recreation Area. When you’re not fishing in the trout-stocked lake, you can explore the surrounding trails on foot, mountain bike or horseback, and at the end of the Eagle Creek Trail you’ll find a waterfall. In 15 minutes or less you can drive to the Hubbard Museum of the American West, the Inn of the Mountain Gods and Billy the Kid casinos and Ruidoso Downs, as well as several golf courses.
Many guests who stay in the cabins of Apache Village return time and again, drawn by the natural beauty and the unbeatable convenience. See for yourself: Book your stay at Destiny Cabin today, before someone else beats you to it!
Please remember that Ruidoso is a mountain town with snow and icy conditions during the winter. This can affect driving and parking conditions regardless of the property, driveway, or roads. 4x4 or chains may be required for during the winter months.

Plenty of wildlife comes thru. The cabin I stayed in was built in th 30's I think. I like knotty pine paneling and the old windows. The cabin was clean and had some updating. No problem bringing your pet.
